Have mirror micrometeorites been detected ?
نویسنده
چکیده
Slow-moving (v ∼ 15 km/s) ‘dark matter particles’ have allegedly been discovered in a recent experiment. We explore the possibility that these slow moving dark matter particles are small mirror matter dust particles originating from our solar system. Ways of further testing our hypothesis, including the possibility of observing these dust particles in cryogenic detectors such as NAUTILUS, are also discussed.

متن کاملPrimary Variations in Micrometeorites with Entry Velocity
Introduction: Micrometeorites are that fraction of the extraterrestrial dust flux that survives atmospheric entry to be recovered from the Earth’s surface. The majority of large micrometeorites (>50 μm), recovered from Antarctic ice, experience significant heating during atmospheric entry with the result that volatilebearing phases, such as clay minerals, have thermally decomposed. A significan...
متن کاملThe Fate of Organic Phases in Porous Idps and Micrometeorites during Atmospheric Entry: a Pulse-heating Study
Interplanetary dust particles (IDPs) and micrometeorites (MMs) are typically heated at temperatures higher than 500 C for few seconds during their atmospheric entry [1,2]. They have been extensively studied with several techniques for their carbon content and for the nature of their carbonaceous phases [3, 4, 5, 6]. Several kinds of organic molecules have been found in IDPs and MMs: polycyclic ...
متن کاملCometary Origin of the Zodiacal Cloud and Carbonaceous Micrometeorites
The zodiacal cloud is a thick circumsolar disk of small debris particles produced by asteroid collisions and comets. The relative proportion in which these two source populations contribute to the zodiacal cloud and the exact physical mechanism that generates the bulk of observed dust were unknown. Here we model the IRAS observations of thermal emission from asteroid and cometary particles to e...
متن کامل\Hydrous-Carbonaceous" Micrometeorites on the Early Earth, Moon and Mars
Unmelted large micrometeorites with sizes of about 50-500 m were recovered from the Antarctica and Greenland ice sheets. Their capture in such \space collectors" made of very clean ices, where they got both shielded from most terrestrial contaminants and preserved by deep freeze, allowed for the rst time the investigation of their carbon chemistry. Mass ux measurements in both ice sheets indica...
